(Symdaddy is George Turnbull. Sym is my border collie, of which I am the 'daddy')

    Copping a strop = throwing a tantrum or paddy. Being upset by an action or event.

    Used in most of, if not all, of the British Isles. Possible exception would be Scotland (but they are weird).
